Orlando, FL – A principios de 2024, la Ciudad de Orlando presentó “The Canopy”, la última versión del espacio de reunión urbano anteriormente conocido como el Proyecto Under-I. El nombre oficial del proyecto es otro paso adelante en el desarrollo de este centro único y surgió a través del ejercicio de diseño más reciente que incorporó los comentarios de la encuesta en línea de la ciudad y las reuniones públicas en el otoño de 2023.
La piedra angular del proyecto es la introducción de aproximadamente 150 espacios de estacionamiento público temporal, diseñados para satisfacer tanto las necesidades de estacionamiento a corto plazo como los requisitos dinámicos de las zonas de recogida y entrega.
La nueva iniciativa de estacionamiento presenta dos nuevos lotes convenientemente ubicados en el Downtown de Orlando. El primer lote, ubicado en Pine Street entre Garland Avenue y Hughey Avenue, incluye espacios de estacionamiento para estacionamiento público de 3 horas entre las 11am. y las 4am. El segundo lote temporal, ubicado en Central Boulevard entre Garland Avenue y Hughey Avenue, ofrece espacios sólo para recoger y dejar pasajeros entre las 10am y las 3am para el StaffDNA Cure Bowl y luego todos los días de 6pm a 3am.
Esta iniciativa piloto de un año no es simplemente un desarrollo de infraestructura; es un esfuerzo estratégico para fomentar un entorno más seguro, más eficiente y fácil de usar para los residentes y visitantes por igual, que naveguen por el Downtown de Orlando.
Estos espacios adicionales ayudarán con la congestión del tráfico que existe durante los eventos del centro que tienen lugar en el distrito de entretenimiento y aumentarán la seguridad de los peatones, ya que más de 15,000 invitados navegarán por el espacio antes y después de los eventos.

The City of Orlando introduces a new parking initiative in Downtown Orlando
Orlando, FL – Earlier in 2024, the City of Orlando introduced “The Canopy,” the latest iteration of the urban gathering space formerly known as the Under-I Project. The official name of the project is another step forward in the development of this unique hub and came about through the most recent design exercise incorporating feedback from the city’s online survey and public meetings in the fall of 2023.
The project’s cornerstone is the introduction of approximately 150 temporary public parking spaces, designed to cater to both short-term parking needs and the dynamic requirements of pickup and drop-off zones.
The new parking initiative introduces two new lots conveniently located in downtown Orlando. The first lot, located on Pine Street between Garland Avenue and Hughey Avenue, includes parking spaces for 3-hour public parking between 11am – 4 am. The second temporary lot, located on Central Boulevard between Garland Avenue and Hughey Avenue, offers spaces that are designated for pick-up and drop-off only between 10am – 3am for the StaffDNA Cure Bowl and then daily from 6 pm – 3am.
This one-year pilot initiative is not merely an infrastructure development; it is a strategic endeavor to foster a safer, more efficient, and user-friendly environment for residents and visitors alike, navigating downtown Orlando.
These additional spaces will help with the traffic congestion that exists during downtown events that take place in the entertainment district and increase pedestrian safety as 15,000 plus guests navigate the space before and after events.
Visitors can pay for parking in the Pine lot using the ParkMobile app. Please note that parking cannot be reserved in advance, so spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This is just the beginning of Orlando’s commitment to a more accessible and pedestrian-friendly downtown as part of the DTO Action Plan.
