Kissimmee, FL – La Ciudad de Kissimmee, en colaboración con Waste Management, destacó la excelencia académica de los participantes del programa extraescolar de la ciudad otorgándoles bicicletas nuevas. El evento tuvo lugar en el Centro Comunitario Chambers Parks en 2380 N. Smith St. en Kissimmee.
Recientemente, Waste Management organizó un taller donde se ensamblaron las 40 bicicletas. El Ejecutivo de Waste Management José Boscan explicó: “Comprendiendo el impacto potencial que estas bicicletas podrían tener, nos pusimos en contacto con la Ciudad de Kissimmee para colaborar en honrar los logros excepcionales de los jóvenes estudiantes.”
La Comisión y el Departamento de Parques y Recreación de la Ciudad de Kissimmee coordinaron el reconocimiento de 31 participantes en actividades extraescolares que demostraron excelencia académica al alcanzar el cuadro de honor.
La alcaldesa Olga González expresó: “En nombre de la Comisión de la Ciudad, quiero destacar que nos produce una gran alegría ver a estos niños merecedores ser reconocidos y utilizar estas bicicletas alrededor de la Ciudad de Kissimmee o el Parque Kissimmee Lakefront.”
Los estudiantes fueron seleccionados entre los participantes del programa, incluyendo el Club C, Fun Club, y el Dynamic After School After Hours (D.A.S.H.), programas que se esfuerzan por crear oportunidades de aprendizaje, crecimiento y diversión.
El Director de Parques y Recreación de la Ciudad de Kissimmee, Steve Lackey, declaró: “Las bicicletas adicionales donadas por Waste Management se sortearán en el evento de Regreso a Clases de la Ciudad de Kissimmee de este año, una oportunidad para que nuestra comunidad se reúna y celebre el comienzo de un nuevo año escolar.”

Bike giveaway celebrates 40 children in afterschool program
Kissimmee, FL – The City of Kissimmee, in collaboration with Waste Management, highlighted the academic excellence of the city’s after-school program participants by awarding them brand-new bicycles. The event occurred at the Chambers Parks Community Center at 2380 N. Smith St. in Kissimmee.
Recently, Waste Management hosted a workshop where the 40 bicycles were assembled. Senior Executive Jose Boscan explained, “Understanding the potential impact these bikes could have, we reached out to the City of Kissimmee to collaborate in honoring the exceptional achievements of the young students.”
The City of Kissimmee Commission and Parks and Recreation Department coordinated the recognition and reward of 31 after-school participants who demonstrated academic excellence by achieving honor roll status.
Mayor Olga Gonzalez expressed, “On behalf of the City Commission, I want to emphasize that it brings us great joy to see these deserving kids being rewarded and using these bikes around the City of Kissimmee bike trails or the Kissimmee Lakefront Park.”
The students were selected from among the program participants, including Club C, Fun Club, and the Dynamic After School After Hours (D.A.S.H.), programs that strive to create learning, growth, and fun opportunities.
The City of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Director, Steve Lackey, stated, “The additional bikes donated by Waste Management will be raffled off at The City of Kissimmee Back-to-School event this year, an opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the start of a new school year.”
